Q: Are Sea Kayaks
stable?
A: Yes! The kayaks we use are the Necky Amaruks or Boreal Esperanto. Their
wide design and the fact that they have a rudder make them very stable.
Q: Will I see wildlife on my Sea Kayak tour with Maine State Sea Kayak?
A: The chances are good. Paddling close to shore and islands increases the
chances. MSSK has a very good record on finding wildlife. Bald eagles, osprey,
cormorant, harbor seals, loons, gulls, terns, and harbor porpoise are the
primary sightings. Please bring a camera on your tour.
Q: How old do I have to be to go on a tour?
A: 8-10 years old or older (4 ft 8 inches tall). Each youth is required
to paddle in a tandem Sea Kayak with an adult. If there is a question on whether
or not someone is OK to go on a tour, please stop by our shop (254 Main
St. in Southwest Harbor) in person.
Q: Can I make a reservation for a tour online?
A: Yes just click (here). Remember,
your reservation is not confirmed until we contact you by phone. We will
take credit card information and answer any outstanding questions at that
point.
Any reservation can be changed/cancelled with a 24 hour notice. We will
do our best to reschedule you. Cancellations with 24 hour notice are refunded
100%.
Q: How far ahead do I need to make a reservation?
A: Generally, 1-2 weeks prior to your Acadia vacation call us
at
1-877-481-9500 and request the best day and time for your kayak tour.
